It started 30 years ago, in September 1978, when John Roskelley and fellow team member challenged convention, hiking up to basecamp with lightweight Nike running shoes, on what would be the first American expedition to stand atop K2. In the words of Roskelley, this was not the acceptable norm at this point in time. Good thing ACG don’t believe in norms. By sending a photo to Nike, little did they know they would start a revolution, inspiring Nike to create Nike Hiking, which would then become Nike All Conditions Gear(ACG).
