History
It was in 1961 when Peter Hutchinson and Pete Crew made the first high performance technical down sleeping bags in the UK for their friends to take on expeditions. At that time there were very few outdoor brands, only a handful of camping stores and the market was tiny – for the best of the best to push their limits they wanted in the high mountains they needed hand-made equipment specially designed for them. The company that evolved from that custom product was Mountain Equipment, now producing extensive ranges of outdoor clothing and outdoor equipment, in particular, making some of the finest sleeping bags in the world.

Mountain Equipment continue to work on outdoor clothing and outdoor equipment that improves the lives of people in the great outdoors. Whether their challenges are to walk further, climb higher or find that elusive way across the pack ice – they aim to help people achieve their personal goals in whatever outdoor activity they do by providing the necessary tools.
