Why merino wool over ordinary wool?
The superfine merino wool fibre is a fraction of the size of traditional wool, and the casing of these fibres, in effect, tiny overlapping scales, are nowhere near as big and therefore not itchy like normal wool. Naturally softer and more lightweight, Icebreaker’s merino wool is also machine-washable, great if you’re out every day using your base-layers in earnest, the merino quality stays the same no matter how much you use and abuse it.
